About Arik Air

Arik Air is a Nigerian owned airline that operates from mainly from two hubs, Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja.

Arik Air’s head office is the Arik Air Aviation Center on the grounds of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja. The airline’s flight covers Nigeria and other major west African destinations.

Arik Air transported its 5 millionth passenger on 6 August 2010 and it transported its 10 millionth passenger on 18 September 2012, both on flights between Johannesburg and Lagos.

Arik Air is presently managed by the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON). AMCON took control of the company in 2017. The takeover was done to help revive and stabilize the airline to top standards.

Boeing 737-700

This aircraft is part of the Boeing 737 Next Generation series. The abbreviation that goes with the series is 737NG. It is the third derivative of the 737 and follows after the 737 classic series.

They are short- to medium-range, narrow-body jet airliners powered by two engines. The Boeing 737-700 take a maximum of between 126 to 149 persons depending on how the seating arrangement is configured.

Boeing 737-800

This is also part of the Boeing 737 Next Generation series. It is a stretched version of the Boeing 737 and it typically seats between 162 to 189 passengers depending on the seating arrangement configuration.

Bombardier CRJ900

This aircraft is part of the Bombardier CRJ700 Series. They are regional jet airliners manufactured by Bombardier. The CRJ900 can seat between 76 to 90 passengers.

Arik Air Check-in

After taking care of your Arik Air Booking, the next thing you would want to do is ensure that you get checked in.

  • Online Check-in

Arik Air provides an online check-in service aimed at customers who want a streamlined travel experience. It is designed to provide passengers with the ability to check-in from 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight to 5 hours before International Flights and 3 hours before Domestic & Regional Flights.

  • Airport Check-in

Arik Air check-in counters open 2 hours before departure for Domestic flights, 3 hours for Regional and 4 hours for International flights.

At check-in, please present your passport and ticket together with anything else you were asked at the time of booking to bring with you, such as your company ID card.

All passengers must have completed check-in for their Arik Air flight prior to check-in closure which is 30 minutes (for Domestic Flights), 45 minutes (Regional Flights) and 90 minutes (for International Flights) before the scheduled departure time.

Prompt closure of check-in at all airports is to ensure our flights depart on time. We adhere to this policy strictly. Please allow ample time for check-in completion.

If you fail to complete check-in procedures by this time you may not be permitted to travel.

  • Boarding

Boarding begins between 30 to 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time, depending on the size and destination of the aircraft.

Customers must be on board the aircraft at least 15 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights, and 30 minutes prior to departure on international flights. Failure to report to your gate at closure time will result in you missing your flight.

Arik Air Baggage Allowance

  • Checked in free baggage allowance

For domestic flights, a maximum of 30kg per bag is allowed for Business class and 20kg per bag for Economy class.

  • Hand Baggage

12kg of one piece of hand baggage is the maximum allowed for International/regional flights and 6kg for domestic flights.

Hand baggage includes those items which passengers may take into the aircraft and store under the seat in front or in the overhead storage compartments.

Arik Air Launches Flight Services to Bauchi (May 2018)

On the 9th of May 2018, Arik Air expanded its flight services to cover Bauchi. The airline began operating 3 weekly flights from Abuja to Bauchi with connections to and from Lagos on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Arik Air wins Best Air Crew of The Year 2017 award (March 2018)

The Nigerian Aviation Award chose Arik Air as the winner of the Best Air Crew of the Year (Domestic Route) for 2017. The award was presented to Arik Air at Oriental Hotel on the 24th of March 2018. The company was recognized for adhering strictly to International standards for both cockpit crew and cabin crew.

MM2 becomes the hub for Outbound and Inbound Arik Air Flights for Port Harcourt (March 2018)

On the 17th of March 2018, Arik Air moved all its Port Harcourt flights to Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2. The move was part of the process to improve the flying experience of the airline’s customers.
